Submissions for Volume 40 of the USJ will open on September 20th, 2026.

Publishing your research in a peer-reviewed journal is a great opportunity for any undergraduate. When you publish through USJ, you retain all rights to your article. Publication is also an excellent asset to graduate schools and research fellowship applications.
Who is eligible to submit?

Any UCLA undergraduate student
-
An undergraduate student enrolled at a different institution who has conducted research at UCLA or with UCLA faculty

We do not accept graduate student submissions
Submission Requirements

Please review the Submission Guidelines above for information on how to submit your
manuscript. Note: Meta-analysis articles should follow the Research Submission Guidelines.
Submit both your final manuscript and the Author/PI Acknowledgment in the Google Form above.
Timeline
December - February
Review
Your manuscript will undergo a double-blind review process and you will be provided a compilation letter detailing necessary changes to scientific content and figures. You must re-submit your manuscript with revisions to be accepted.
Late April
Send to print
February - March
Editorial
Your manuscript will be edited for clarity, brevity, and style. You will meet and actively communicate with Staff to revise your manuscript to improve its readability and accessibility.
Late May
Volume 40 Released
April
Layout
The content and figures of your manuscript will be formatted for print. You should anticipate revisions to figures and file formats.
June
